Vehicle-Technology-Aviation Museum

The Vehicle-Technology-Aviation Museum is located 4 km south of the centre of Bad Ischl on route 145 (Österreichische Romantikstraße). It opened in 1990 with the aim to show the modern development of both civil and military transport. The private company that owns the museum is supported by volunteers, especially in the restoration of the exhibits. It shows its collections in a large exhibition hall and a park. The items include a fine selection of models and many original rail, road and air vehicles. The steam railway locomotives are from Austrian railways. A wide range of motorcycles is on display along with vintage cars and commercial vehicles, military vehicles and tanks, agricultural tractors and Ford racing cars. The aircraft include a glider, helicopters and fighter jets by Mil and MiG. There is a café for visitors and special events include markets for vintage vehicle parts.
