The award-winning Scottish Maritime Museum at Irvine and Dumbarton is home to Scotland's seafaring heritage. At two sites in the west of Scotland you can learn about Scotland’s importance to maritime history, including about the people that built and sailed Scottish ships around the world.
The Irvine site is home to Scotland’s national maritime collection. Explore Scotland’s ‘Cathedral of Engineering’ - the vast, former Linthouse shipyard building. Discover historic vessels, test a model foam boat on the indoor boating pond or sail your own on the outdoor boating pond. Visitors can take a tour, leaving the Linthouse three times a day and lasting about 75 minutes.
