Rice Museum

Rice has been for many centuries a staple item of diet in parts of southern Europe, not least around Valencia where it forms the basis of the paellas for which the region is famous.

The museum is based in the Molino de Serra, a five-storey factory of the early twentieth century, and displays all aspects of rice cultivation and processing in the Mediterranean region. Nineteenth and early twentieth century machines are displayed alongside those used in modern factories, and the role of rice in the cuisine of the area is well-portrayed. The museum includes many up-to-date models and interactive displays.
