The ENTER Museum takes its name from the 'Enter' key on a computer keyboard and the English word for 'enter'. It is a museum of computers and consumer electronics that was created from private collections brought together in the 1990s and has been on display since 2010.. In 2023, the museum moved into a new building in Derendingen to the east of Solothurn, where, in addition to the exhibition, an academy and meeting zone dedicated to the history and future of technology was set up with the aim of preserving cultural heritage and inspiring young people for technical professions.
In over 10,000 square metres of interactive exhibition space, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of technology and discover well-known treasures and surprising contemporary witnesses from the beginnings of computers and consumer electronics to the present day. On display are computer hardware and software, computer peripherals, calculating machines, telecommunications, radio and television - from the first radio transmitter to the computers of today. Telegraphs and an Edison phonograph from 1880 are on display. The original control and transmission system of Switzerland's first radio station from 1922 has been preserved, and dozens of radios of various brands fill the shelves. The museum displays the first electronic desktop computer from 1961, a large IBM 370 from 1970, the first Apple 1 personal computer from 1976 and the first computer mouse from 1974.
