Baden Historical Museum

Baden has been famous for its hot springs since Roman times. Baden Historical Museum is in a modern building beside the river Limmat. The exhibitions show the importance of the baths as a place where people met and did business. The modern displays are beautifully designed and interactive, giving visitors a chance to feel they met some of the historical characters. Objects show the history of the baths back to Roman times and forward to treatment for health in the twentieth century. They also examine the work of the city in crafts and industry. The electrical engineering company Brown, Boveri & Compagnie was founded in Baden in 1891 to make electric motors and generators, and General Electric operates here.
