4th Dritl. Virtual Mining Museum

The Virtual Museum of Mining 4th dritl is located in the basemant of historical building of Delavski dom Cultural Center Trbovlje, that was built with volunteer work and contributions of Trbovlje's inhabitatnt, mostly miners. Exhibition combines real mining heritage artifacts with digital content (3D video, VR, holographic projections, mapping) in order to tell the story of our community. This local community was formed by the mining industry, which allowed the city to grow to more than 20,000 inhabitants at the time of mining. Besides the tour through exhibitions and guided tours around industrial landscape in and around the town, the museum also offers the game »Escape from the mine«: fun and educational experience that presents visitors with the challenge of rescuing miners trapped in a cave. Players have to go through a series of challenges supported by the use of new media tools (VR, holograms, touch screens, projections). At the same time, they will discover the mining environment, skills and knowledge required by the miners.The game is suitable for teams of 3 to 6 players who strive to complete the task as quickly as possible and sign the wall of the legendary miners.

Tours around industrial landscape of Trbovlje include visit to Trbovlje power central, where visitors can see the interior of the highest chimney in Europe, which is a unique experience for itself. It’s 360 meters high and it’s the highest building in Slovenia, the highest chimney in Europe and the 7th highest in the world. A mighty building that can withold an eartquake of magnitude 10, charms every visitor that gets close to its foothils. It’s a magnet for adrenaline enthusiasts, that wish to climb it despite the ban. While climbing it physically is strictly forbidden, it’s possible to see it from the inside and virtually climb to the top, with the help of 360-video.
