Varkaus Museum Centre Konsti

The museum centre Konsti opened in 2024; it includes Varkaus History Museum and Varkaus Art Museum and, as a new addition, Children's Factory, which lets kids explore the industry through play. In Konsti you will find the story of Varkaus’ 200 year old industry all the way to the future. Industry in Varkaus started from a small iron mill in 1815. It grew and expanded to multibranch industrial centre and today it is known for its technological knowhow in energy and process technology.

The wonderful premises of Museum Centre Konsti are located under the walls of the old factory school which was completed in 1924. The building is located in the idyllic Old Varkaus area and near the working Varkaus Containerboard Mill. The picturesque factory workers housing area of Old Varkaus that surrounds Konsti were built by the Ahlström Company in the early 1900s. In Old Varkaus you can find several services for visitors from restaurants to accommodation.

Museum Centre Konsti is also a cultural multipurpose building that presents Varkaus industry, culture and art. Konsti has space for the entire community, the garden and playground are used by the whole neighbourhood and the event field and hall are used for various events.
