Trieste Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico

Immaginario Scientifico at Grigano, 6 km north of Trieste, is a centre for scientific studies opened in 1999 that was originally inspired by the multi-media displays at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie at La Villette in Paris established in the 1980s. One reason for its location at Grigano is its proximity to the International Centre for Theoretical Physics which opened in 1964. There are three areas of interactive displays. The first, Fenomena, is a permanent exhibition demonstrating the properties of water, steam, light and mirrors. The second, Kaleido, is available for temporary exhibitions, and the third, Cosmo, is a planetarium. Since its establishment at Grigano, Immaginario Scientifico has opened similar centres at Montereale Valcellina, Pordenone and Tavagnacco.
