Matra Automobile Museum

Located in the former Beaulieu camera manufacturing plant, the museum is dedicated to the history of Matra (Mécanique Aviation Traction), a company founded in 1945 by Marcel Chassagny that diversified into many fields. The collection of eighty racing cars traces the company from its early days as an armament manufacturer to its production of winning Formula-1 racing cars. Visitors can see the MS 80 Formula-1 (1969 champion) and the Matra Sports V12 Engine, which was three-times winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A range of concept sports cars and prototypes are also on display, such as the futuristic Sbarro Espera Espace Spider and the Espace F1. Videos, models, photographs and posters are also presented. A display dedicated to engines is brought to life by the piercing sound of the V12 engine. A shop sells racing clothes, books and other souvenirs.
