Dundee Museum of Transport

The museum was founded in 2010. It is an independent museum which preserves the transport heritage of the city of Dundee and the surrounding areas. It is currently temporarily housed in a modern industrial unit in Dundee. It has bought the former Dundee tram depot, a group of buildings dating from 1901, and hopes to restore the buildings and rehouse the museum there. Vehicles on show are either held in the collection or brought in for themed days. Visitors may see commercial lorries and vans made by makers such as Albion, Bedford, ERF and Volvo in the liveries of local businesses, military vehicles, motorbikes, emergency vehicles, buses or other transport heritage. The theme of future transport is explored through concept cars and vehicles once considered futuristic such as a Bond Bug and a Sinclair C5. Models, graphics, ephemera and artefacts are also on display.
