As second Anchor Point in Saxony-Anhalt, the Industry and Film Museum (ifm) Wolfen adds exciting new elements to the ERIH network.
Once the second largest film manufacturer in the world, the site puts the media of film and photography in the context of a technological development that spans the entire 20th century.
ERIH board member Katharina Hornscheidt presented the membership certificate in a ceremony that was attended by Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of State, Rainer Robra, as well as head of district Uwe Scholz and member of the Landtag, Prof. Dr. Angela Kolb-Janssen, whose presence underlined the importance of industrial legacy for the region. "The country is aware of its industrial heritage“, said Rainer Robra in his welcoming address. "Within this context, the Industry and Film Museum plays a special role." And he added: "The ifm has the potential to become a world heritage site in the long term".
The admission to the ERIH network is mainly due to the commitment of museum director Uwe Holz. He expects a gain in terms of image: "The membership in this international association will help us a lot to make ifm Wolfen better known internationally".
