The popularity has never been this high: 98,300 visitors flocked to the Industriada 2018 and made the colourful festival of industrial heritage in Poland‘s Silesian Voivodeship a huge success. This time the focus was on women and their contribution to industrialisation – in the shape of wealthy aristocrats as well as nameless workers and even saints.
Industriada's official opening ceremony alone attracted 3,000 fans of industrial heritage, gathering in the Historic Silver Mine World Heritage Site inTarnowskie Góry. 4,000 visitors watched the brilliant finish at the Ignacy Historic Mine in Rybnik where 56 artists staged a dynamic multimedia show with dance, acrobatics, light effects and music to perform a day in the life of a female industrial worker.
Those who could not attend this time may already look forward to the next Industriada in 2019. Apart from that, the Silesian Technical Monuments Route is worth a visit at any time.
