Zeeland Industrial Museum

The Zeeland Industrial Museum is a place of hands-on learning, where visitors find interactive displays about technology and energy and issues such as safety and environment. It is inside a former sugar factory. The entrance has a place to leave coats based on the system used in coal mines, with chains to take things to the ceiling. The displays are arranged in thematic zones. The first is about the products of industry, with a large number of objects on show. It asks how industry has been used to solve problems and make things and how it has sometimes had wide-reaching effects. The second is about energy – how much people use and how it is produced. Its centrepiece is a steam turbine and switchgear for electricity generation. Zone three is about factory work and zone four speculates about the future of technology and industry.
