Located in the industrial city of Vassa, this is Finland’s largest private car museum. Owned by Vaasa Vintage Car Society, it opened in 1981 and moved to its present building in 2010. It explores the history of road vehicles from the early 20th century to the present. One floor is devoted to some of the earliest cars and to sports and racing cars, which include the rare Lancia Fulvia Zagato, the Volvo P1800S and the Triumph Spitfire. The exhibition also includes Finland’s first robot or driverless car, Marilyn 2.0. The floor above focuses on engine manufacturing in Vaasa, including Olympia boat engines made by Finska Motorfabriks, the engines of Bröderna Wickströms Motorfabrik, and many smaller manufacturers. This area also has an exhibition of bicycles and motorcycles and other artefacts representing 20th-century culture. A service garage and tyre shop have been reconstructed and fully stocked. Aircraft engines are represented by a French Hispano-Suiza V8 engine of 1923 and the DC-3 passenger plane engine of 1942.
