Utrecht Railway Museum

The Maliebaanstation which houses the railway, dates from 1874 and is the oldest remaining in Utrecht. The collection include a replica of De Arend of 1839, the first engine to work in the Netherlands, constructed at Bedlington, Northumberland, several other British-built examples from the period 1860-81, and German locomotives from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Badges, uniforms, signals and posters are among the collections imaginatively displayed in a series of ‘open depots’.
