SteamCountryPeople - Eslohe Museum

The display of the former iron industries in the Sauerland, backed by exhibitions on folk culture, a collection of steam engines and locomotives and a section dedicated to the mechanization of farming turns the wheel of history back to the time of our grandparents and beyond. Visitors experience the coexistence and mutual stimulation of early industrial manufacturing and traditional lifestyles in the countryside.

Located in the Salweytal, the museum portrays patterns of work in the small-scale iron industry. Its exhibits of pre-industrial local trades are centred around iron foundries and chain forges. The agricultural section focuses on the transition from manual labour to mechanical production.
