Museum of the Soviet Automobile Industry

Ivanovo, 300 km north-east of Moscow, was the location of some of the most significant factories in the automobile industry of the former USSR, which are still important sources of motor car parts. The Museum of the Soviet Automobile Industry displays in its two exhibition halls complete lines of the characteristic Soviet vehicles, including Volga, Seagul, Gazo and ZIL. There are examples of the GAZ-69s, widely used by the police and by the managers of collective farms, and the Volga KGB, used for the surveillance of suspected enemy agents. The museum is the principal centre for historic car restoration in Russia.
