Frohnauer Hammer Museum

The water-powered Frohnauer Hammer is the centrepiece of a restored iron forge at Annaberg-Buchholz that is one of the most important iron-working monuments in the Erzgebirge. The timber-framed building of 1436 was originally a corn mill, but was later adapted as a mint and a hammer forge.

Visitors can see demonstrations of the working of a hammer and of the forge bellows, as well as a display illustrating working methods. Nearby is a folk art gallery illustrating, among other topics, the wood carving carried on by the miners and ironworkers of the Erzgebirge.

The location is part of the Mining Cultural Landscape Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří World Heritage Site.
