Ellesmere Port

This unique, award winning museum is set in over 7 acres of historic canal port and is home to the world’s largest floating collection of inland waterway craft. Set in the old dock complex overlooking the Mersey Estuary, the museum allows you to discover the fascinating social and industrial history of Britains canals. Hop aboard and explore the narrow boat cabins to experience how families lived and worked on the inland waterways, or try your hand at operating the interactive steam-powered crane. Then step back in time to visit the Victorian housekeeper in Porters Row and rediscover traditional toys and games of bygone days.

There are over 60 colourful boats to be viewed - many of which welcome visitors on board. There are also indoor exhibitions, working engines and boat trips along the canal to be enjoyed. Let´s not forget a visit to the blacksmith´s forge in the island warehouse exhibition, the opportunity to have a bite to eat in the café or indeed a drop into the shop for that essential souvenir.
