Yerevan with a population of just over a million people, about 35 per cent of the population of Armenia, is one of the world’s oldest cities. Its museum of science and technology is a recent foundation, said by visitors to be small but interesting. It aims to show the scientific and technological achievements of the Armenian people, both in their own country and elsewhere, and to demonstrate their contributions to world science and technology. At present the main emphasis is on computing, with displays of early desk top computers and parts of main frames, with emphasis on the work of the Yerevan Institute of Microelectronics, particularly on control devices. The museum plans to expand and is appealing for new exhibits.
