Sauerland Visitor Mine

Take a journey of discovery deep into the earth and experience first-hand the fascinating world of mining. Once you have been equipped with a helmet and protective clothing, travel 1.5 kilometres into the pit on the original mine railway. Experienced miners tell the story of their past world of work in old tunnels and mines three hundred metres underground, where the temperature is approximately 12°C in summer and winter and the arduous conditions in which ore was mined are explained.
