Postal Museum

This is the official museum of the French postal service and is recognised as a national museum under the Ministry of Culture. It began in 1946. In 1973 it moved to the 15th arrondissement and an expressive new building designed for the purpose in French Brutalist style by André Chatelin. The buildings and displays were fully refurbished in 2019. The collections extend to more than 1.2 million items, the majority of which are published stamps, associated design drawings and printing equipment. In addition, the museum displays photographs, models and artefacts such as post-boxes, uniforms and vehicles to illustrate the operation of the postal service. The permanent exhibition is in three sections that explain the history of postal transport, the people who have made up the postal service and the art and manufacture of stamps. The museum also houses temporary exhibition galleries, an archive and a shop
