Old Midleton Distillery

The distilling plant at Midleton is the largest in Ireland and dates from 1975. Alongside it the Jameson Heritage Centre is based in the earlier distilling complex, the oldest part of which, a 4-storey, 19-bay structure, was built as a woollen mill, c 1796, but was never used for manufacturing textiles. Exhibits include a 1,425,000 litre pot still, a 5 m X 6 m water wheel and a beam engine in the classical style. Visits conclude with samples of present-day products.
