Museum for Industrial Culture

The museum of industrial life is located in a former engineering factory and shows how work and everyday life were transformed in the industrial period, particularly in the city of Nürnberg and its surrounding region. The museum began in 1979 as the Centrum Industriekultur, moved to its present location in 1988, became part of the city museum service in 1994, and was substantially expanded in 1997-98. Amongst the themes illustrated in the displays are the experience of schooling, life in a fire station, the cinema and the making of the celebrated Nürnberg lebkuchen. A motor museum was opened in an extension in 1995.
