This former fish factory opened in 2017 as a museum about the city of Fécamp and its fishing industry. It brings together pre-existing collections, including those of a museum created in 1899 for the fishery training school. The five-storey reinforced-concrete building was designed by André Hamayon in 1950 for the company La Morue Normande, which was established by Joseph Duhamel in 1926. Boats delivered cod to the quay in front of the factory to be dried and packed. The plant later processed frozen herring until it closed in 1996. Visitors explore the evolution of the fishing industry from herring fishing in the middle ages to the exploitation of Newfoundland cod, together with subjects such as maritime safety, shipbuilding and fish processing. The story is presented through artifacts, models, photographs and interactive displays. The museum also has displays about history and archaeology, daily life in the region and fine art. A glass-sided viewing gallery on the roof looks over the harbour.
