The museum of tractors, together with a museum of agricultural machinery and a preserved landowner’s house, is in the countryside 80km west of Helsinki. The private collection was started in the 1970s by the Karhu family. It is presented on two floors of a timber barn. Downstairs and outside are around 120 tractors and excavators, mainly from the mid-20th century. Some are famous models used across the world and others are rare survivors. They include makes such as Ford, John Deere, Deering, Oliver, Fordson, International, Munktells, Takra and Deutz. The agricultural machinery includes horse-drawn vehicles such as sleighs and buggies, ploughs, chainsaws, combine harvesters, threshing machines, wood splitters and steam engines. Many of the machines are kept in working order and demonstrated for visitors. The everyday life of farming families is presented in the manor house, built in 1924, with a preserved office, a room for wool carding and spinning, a sewing room, a fully furnished kitchen, a period sitting room and a gunroom.
