Jizera Mountains Technical Museum

Hejnice is a small town on the River Smĕda in the Jezera Mountains in Bohemia, and was a municipality in the Sudentenland between 1938 and 1945. The museum is located at beautiful site of Jizera mountains landscape in former textile factory “Baumwollspinerei Karl Bienert und Söhne”, which is an exceptionally well-preserved factory complex including numerous authentic structural features and equipment dating from the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The most valuable exhibit of the museum is the building itself: the site was listed as a cultural monument in March 2011.There are three main exhibitions: 1st Steam engine room and boiler room with original steam boilers, exhibition of old energetic machinery; 2nd Exhibition of aircraft engines from 1914 till now and exhibition of aircraft archaeology which is collected from air crashes in the mountains around the factory; 3rd Exhibition of textile production with some machines in working condition and exhibition of old sewing machines.
