J. Trepat Factory Museum in Tàrrega

The Trepat factory, known as ‘Cal Trepat’, was the leading producer of agricultural machinery in Spain between the 1930s and the 1960s. The factory owner, Josep Trepat, became an important figure in Catalonia, where his machines helped to mechanise and transform farming. The factory manufactured mowers, threshers, reapers and balers. In 2012 it opened as a museum. The factory occupied nineteen terraced workshop and warehouses. Five of these can be visited. The production line has been preserved, including manufacturing machines and tools. The g boring-machines that were produced in the factory for its own use are displayed. The busbar that distributed electricity to the machines is in working condition. Visitors also visit studios where the machines were designed and the factory’s sales area. Creative and educational workshops for children, teenagers and families are held. The museum forms part of the Catalan Science and Technology Museums network.
