Itsasmuseum Bilbao is located on the former site of the outbuildings of the Euskalduna shipyard. Its purpose is to preserve and present the history, culture, and identity of the men and women who have lived on and from the sea in Bilbao and Biscay, areas with a strong maritime tradition.
The exhibition is divided into three main categories: the territory, the people who settled there and the natural and cultural heritage. Inside, we can find out about the evolution of sea trade in Bilbao and Biscay and surrounding areas and the evolution of naval industry. Outside, we can visit the old docks of the Euskalduna shipyards with over 150 years of history, an exhibition of boats, the very popular “Carola” crane and the Pumping Station.
