Traumwerk is a joyful collection of toys related to transport created by the engineer and businessman Hans-Peter Porsche and located in the Bavarian mountains in a stylish modern building with a plan shaped like a number 8. At the heart of the museum is a spectacular model railway that extends to 550 square metres and shows parts of Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, including Lake Constance with over 2km of track and 200 trains, of which 40 at a time run on the circuit. Projectors change the lighting effects from nighttime to daytime and back in 17 minutes. An even larger area is given to the permanent exhibition of over 2,000 tin toys, which date between 1860 and 1930 and include trains, cars, ships and zeppelins. In addition, there are children’s peddle cars and Porsche cars with which Hans-Peter Porsche is associated, including the beautiful early Porsche models 550 and 356 and iconic Volkswagen vehicles.
