Flugmuseum Aviaticum

The museum at the edge of the airport at Wiener Neustadt is managed by a private association, and occupies an exhibition hall of 400 square metres. The displays are based on collections made by Toni Kahibacher (1914-2004) and the aviation historian Reinhard Keimel (b 1944). The project to put the collection on display at Wiener Neustadt was launched in 1993, and was supported by the city of Wiener Neustadt and Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. The museum building was opened in 1999. Its outstanding exhibit is a Messerschmitt Me-109 of the Second World War, but visitors can also experience a flight simulator, and see some very early wooden-framed aircraft, a racing aircraft of the 1930s and a helicopter. There are also more than 20 gliders and a substantial collection of aeroengines.
