Egliswil Collection Centre of Aargau Museum

The Museum Aargau collection on the history of the canton, which was founded in 1803, has grown since 1830 to around 55,000 objects dating from 1000 BC to the present day. Some 30,000 objects are kept in the collection centre in Egliswil, which is open to visitors on guided tours at certain times. One focus of the collection is on objects from the industrial history of Aargau.

The canton of Aargau is located in the northern part of Switzerland and shares a border with Germany. Its industrial history began in the mid-19th century with the manufacture of textiles and the processing of cotton. This was followed by the metal, mechanical and electrical industries, and the manufacture of chemical and pharmaceutical products. Today, the canton's economy is characterised by a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as a few large international companies.

The "IndustriekulTour Aabach" developed by the Aarbach Museum invites you on a journey back in time to the beginnings of industrialisation. With this smartphone app, you can discover three centuries of industrial history on the Aabach river through 5 interactive tours. In addition, 27 information panels along the way explain the history of industry on the Aabach.
