De Lichtfabriek

In the monumental buildings dance-events and fashionshows as well as (business)fairs are organised. EBH, also knows as The Lichtfabriek is a popular place for trendy visitors. The in London residing multinational opererende Imperial Continental Gas Association (ICGA) opened a gasfactory in Haarlem in 1836. In 1902 the Gemeente Lichtfabrieken took over production. A new colestoker and two gasholders were build for that pupose in the Veerpolder at the eastside of Haarlem. At the kay they build a large machine that could take coles out of the delivering boats.

There was also a building for the board of the company and a small powerplant. In 1911 a new turbinehall for the production of electrical power was build. It was designed by the architect J.J. van Noppen.
