Cité du Train. French Railway Museum

There are more than 100 locomotives in the French Railway Museum, which is located to the north of the city in purpose-designed buildings of 1976, which have been subsequently enlarged. The collection includes examples designed by the innovating French engineers Andre Chapelon (1892-1978) and Alfred de Glehn (1848-1936). The rolling stock includes a Bugatti railcar of 1935 and a Pullman car of 1926 built in Birmingham and used on the Golden Arrow service. One of the prize exhibits is the electric locomotive BB 9004 which gained the world rail speed record in 1955.
