BMW Group Factory Berlin

BMW motorcycle tyres are filled with Berlin air. The BMW Group plant in Berlin-Spandau produces BMW motorcycles for sale around the globe in historic brick buildings. Factory tours provide an insight into state-of-the-art vehicle production at a long-established manufacturing site that tells an exciting story. Since the 16th century, the development of the city of Spandau has been shaped by the citadel, built to defend the royal seat of Berlin. Production in the immediate vicinity of the citadel was only permitted for military purposes. Friedrich Wilhelm I had a rifle and ammunition factory built for the Prussian army in the 18th century. In 1936, Brandenburgische Motoren Werke GmbH (Bramo) took over the site and began producing aircraft engines. Bayerische Motorenwerke (BMW), which acquired the plant three years later, continued to manufacture aircraft engines, but in 1949 the company started to produce motorcycle parts, which were assembled at the main plant in Munich. Twenty years later, the first BMW motorcycle completely made in Spandau rolled off the line. In the following decades, the plant was continuously expanded and modernized, always considering the fact that the buildings are listed. As of today, up to 800 motorcycles per day are produced by 2,000 employees.
