Bergerac Tobacco Museum

The Musée du Tabac is located in the centre of Bergerac near the river Dordogne in a mansion built for a wealthy bourgeois family in the seventeenth century. The large museum explores the production and use of tobacco in different civilizations around the world over the past 3,000 years through displays over three floors and an audio-visual. There are rare collections of artefacts, paintings and historical advertising. Displays about processing tobacco include samples of tobacco leaves and tobacco mills and presses, cigars and cigarettes. There are many examples of tobacco pipes, boxes and smoking paraphernalia and a machine for making wooden pipes.
