Automotive and Technology Museum

Otrębusy is a village of about two thousand people, 21 km south-west of Warsaw. The automotive and technology museum, opened in 1995, holds a collection of more than 300 vehicles. Its principal emphasis is on motoring during the era of the Communist governments between the Second World War and the fall of the Iron Curtain. There are many cars from that period, including Trabants and a ZIS convertible, once used by Joseph Stalin. The museum organises tours of Warsaw in buses from the 1950s and 60s, and a range of exhibits commemorate Grand Prix motor races of the Communist period. Important exhibits from the early years of motor transport include a Titan tractor made in the United States in 1895, a Mercedes truck of 1913 and a Fiat car of 1919. There are several cars used by famous people, including Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. The collection also includes motor cycles, prams and even some military tanks.
