Did you know ...

where the world's first boat lift was built?

Located near Northwich in Cheshire and built in 1875, the Anderton Boat Lift is known as the "Cathedral of the Canals". The masterpiece of technology in the north west of England is the world’s first boat lift. Silent for nearly 20 years the industrial monument re-opened in 2002. Experience the Anderton Boat Lift in the same way boaters did in bygone times. Take a trip on a glass top boat as the magnificent and impressive lift towers above you.
