The Site
Lithuania has long traditions of pottery manufacture which are illustrated in the Museum of Ceramics, accessed down steep steps in the vaults of the old town hall of the country’s second largest city. An archaeological collection consists of 30,000 pieces found during archaeological excavations on the site of the old town of Kaunas between 1968 and 1997, which includes many tiles in the Renaissance and Baroque styles. The museum also includes displays of the work of contemporary Lithuanian potters.
