Norwegian Telecommunications Museum

The Stavanger branch of the Norwegian Telecommunications Museum is particularly concerned with trans-oceanic telegraphs (the American telegraph), with the role of coastal radio stations in safety at sea, and with the development of Morse technology. Visitors are able examine Stavanger’s first manual telephone switchboards of 1881, and to explore the possibilities of new forms of communication using the internet and mobile telephones. The museum also features semaphore telegraph systems of the early nineteenth century.
