The only museum of the textile industry in the Czech Republic occupies the 19th century buildings of an Ursuline convent at Česká Skalice. Its displays cover the history of textiles of all kinds throughout the Czech lands in the pre-industrial period before 1800, as well as the subsequent history of large-scale cotton manufacturing in Eastern Bohemia. The speciality of the museum is the attention that it gives to the design of printed cotton fabrics and the technology by which they were manufactured on a large scale (usually called calico printing). The displays include many examples of printed fabrics. The museum is a branch of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
