Route du Cidre

The cider route extends 40 km through the Pay d’Auge in Normandy through an area renowned for its cider and for Calvados, where producers are entitled to the ‘Appellation d’Origine Controlée des Cidres du Pay d’Auge’.  The route has been independently organised but its point of contact is the tourist office in Cambremer. It extends through the villages of Beuvron-en-Auge, Grandouet, St Aublin-Lebizay and Roque Baignard, and links together 20 producers of cider, apple-flavoured mineral water and Calvados. Some establishments are open to visitors throughout the year but some only in the summer season. Visitors are able to see a variety of processes for making cider and distilling spirits, and some ancient equipment is displayed. An important point on the itinerary is the Château de Crèvecour-en-Auge where a two-week medieval fair is staged every summer. There is a small ecomuseum featuring gardens, Les Jardins du Pays d’Auge, at Cambremer.
