Königshain Granite Quarrying Museum

The Granite Quarrying Museum in the Königshain Hills 9 km West of Görllitz gives a realistic impression of the working and living conditions of the stone workers. The place where from 1844 to 1975 granite was crushed and processed today shows the process of the stone from quarry to pavement. The partly preserved and partly reconstructed buildings and outdoor area show original machines and equipment, including a huge air compressor and the rail tracks and trucks of the braking track, which transported the stones to the loading station. A nature and quarry trail leads through the former quarrying area.
