The ERIH annual conference will this year be held in Katowice in Poland. The conference will present experiences made, lessons learned, best-practice examples in the field of industrial heritage and new media (apps, blogs, social networks, geo caching, etc.) during the conference day on Thursday. Thursday night the delegates will enjoy a special evening underground in the ERIH Anchor Point Coalmine GUIDO in Zabrze. During the conference excursion on Friday participants will have the chance to visit the Silesian Technical Monuments route including the ERIH Anchor Point Tyskie Browarium.

This year´s conference will be held in co-operation the “Weimar Triangle” (Co-operation of Voivodeship Silesia in Poland, North-Rhine Westphalia in Germany and Nord-Pas de Calais in France) celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2011. The subject of this year’s Conference will be “Industrial Heritage and Web 2.0  – Examples of Best Practice". Deadline for the submission of papers is 12 August 2011. Papers should be submitted by e-mail to germany‎@‎erih.net. The conference was held in co-operation with the TICCIH Tourism Section and at the kind invitation of the Museu de la Ciencia i de la Tecnica de Catalunya (mNACTEC), the Catalan Museum of Science and Technology, which is made up of different industrial museums across Catalonia. The central site of the museum where presentations were given on the first day of the conference is the Vapor Aymerich Amat i Jover textile mill in Terrassa, an outstanding conversion of a 1909 Modernista building. The 12 presentations on the theme of “Industrial Heritage Tourism – Examples of Best Practice” provided details of the wide range of activity and good practice that is taking place in this area across Europe, and one example from the United States.

Collectively they demonstrated a number of recurring themes in the ways in which industrial heritage sites are taking constructive action including:

Industrial heritage experts from all over the world meet during the TICCIH Conference 2009 from 30th August to 5th September in Freiberg/Saxony. Besides the presentations, workshops and seminars an interesting excursion programme as well as pre- and post-conference trips are available.

Also this year´s annual ERIH Conference takes place during the TICCIH Conference on Thursday, 3rd September 2009 at the Technical University and Mining academy Freiberg. Subject of the ERIH conference part is “Industrial Heritage Tourism”. After the conference the General Assembly of the ERIH association will be held.
