Successful ERIH-Anual Conference 2007 Colliery Zollern received Anchor Point plaque

This year’s ERIH annual conference took place on 13 and 14 September in the amazing LWL Industrial Museum Colliery Zollern in Dortmund and focused on the progress of the ERIH project and highlighted examples of best-practice in the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

Key presentations included: the new Regional Routes “ENERGY ROUTE in Lusatia” in Germany and “The Industrious East” Route in Great Britain (were presented) as well as new museum and presentation technologies for the transfer of knowledge such as: GPS (M2C project Moritz) or GOOGLE Earth (www.zeitreise-ruhr.de).
Approximately 100 delegates, from seven countries, accepted the invitation to attend the conference, took the opportunity to exchange experiences and gain a greater understanding about innovations and concepts in industrial heritage.
On the first day the group took an excursion to the Colliery Waltrop and then visited the Ship Lift Henrichenburg, followed by an evening reception at the stunning Coking Plant Hansa in Dortmund where the guests experienced the very special atmosphere of the former industrial production plant. A unique experience for British visitors was a chance to climb up into the Plant and follow the route taken by the coal before it was made into coke, a breath-taking experience!
The conference audience extended beyond representatives from ERIH Anchor Points, it also included decision makers from politics, tourism and business who are all dealing with industrial heritage. During the conference the ERIH plaque at Colliery Zollern was formally unveiled.
