ERIH secures its future through foundation of legal entity

The network of ERIH – European Route of Industrial Heritage wants to become a sustainable institution for the protection, maintenance and marketing of Europe’s industrial heritage. Therefore an association based on German law (eingetragener Verein) ERIH – European Route of Industrial Heritage has been founded.

Representatives of several museums and ERIH Project Partners from Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands celebrated the official foundation on 19th February at the Zollverein Colliery in Essen. As well as Anchor Points, other organisations and interested individuals can now become members of this association.

Seventeen founder members joined the association at the foundation, and they elected a seven-member board. The new president of ERIH is Dr. Meinrad Maria Grewenig, chief executive of the Völklingen Ironworks UNESCO World heritage site (in the middle of the picture). The Vice-President is Dr Hildebrand de Boer from the Stichting Industriecultuur Nederland (on the right side) and Ralf Winkels from the Landscape Park Duisburg Nord has taken over the role of treasurer (left).
