50 lucky prizewinners have just received visitor passes and gifts donated by major ERIH sites following their successful entry in the ERIH Exhibition’s.

On 25th March The Right Honourable Rhodri Morgan First Minister of the Wales Assembly Government formally opened the new centre providing an interpretation centre for the industrial history of the area famous for iron, steel and coal production and for the story of early industrial society. The Blaenavon Industrial Landscape was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in December 2000.

The impressive waterfall and former metal working industrial site at Aberdulais Falls, Neath, provided an ideal location for the formal launch of the ERIH South Wales Regional Route on the 10th March. John Rodger, Coordinator for the route spoke to an invited audience of representatives from national and local organisation, route sites and media about ERIH, the purpose of the route and how sites had been selected. He presented the newly published route booklet containing details of all of the sites which could be visited.

Members of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Volunteer Service (CHDVS) have been recognised for their work at The Historic Dockyard during 2007. The Certificate for Volunteering Excellence, issued by Kent County Council under the Volunteering Excellence Award Scheme, was presented by Sir Ian Garnett, Chairman of Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust to Mike Mannington, CHDVS Project Co-ordinator.

Future arrangements for ERIH UK were the subject addressed at a UK Anchor Point meeting held at Ironbridge on 1st – 2nd February, 2007.  The meeting was well attended with delegates representing interested national and regional organisations in addition to representatives for 19 of the 26 UK Anchor Points.
