Did you know ...

where to find the deepest visitor mine in Europe?

The shafts in the old Guido colliery in Zabrze (Poland), first set up in 1855, descend to a depth of 320 metres, making it the deepest visitor mine in Europe. After the Second World War the mine finally came to an end. The reopening as visitor mine in 2007 is due to the determined commitment of its supporters. The stables that were built for pit ponies underground still exist in their original state, and are now one of the highlights of a visit down the mine.
