The Semmering pass. Whoever travels from Vienna to Triest has to cross it. The train that overcomes the pass for more than 150 years uses the same name. Known as "Semmeringbahn" it makes its way along a series of complexly designed bridges. Today the mountains are easily accessible by car. The train, inaugurated in 1854, is still in operation and rewards its passengers with unique panoramic views.
