Bis zum 16. November läuft ein "Call for papers".

 

The title of the conference is Reusing the Industrial Past. Theme is expected to be broad enough covering various approaches. Please note that the there are many possibilities to propose sessions/papers from the different disciplines. The perspectives on social-, culture- or for ex. on regional and environmental issues are welcome to the conference. The conference venues will be The University of Tampere and the old Finlayson factory area by the Tammerkoski rapids in the centre of Tampere. Tampere is easily accesible. It is located in Southern Finland, 175 km north of Helsinki. There are excellent flight connections to Finland and Tampere from all parts of the world. Tampere has an international airport, served by Blue1/SAS (Star Alliance), Finnair (One World Alliance) and Ryanair.

The programme will include scientific and plenary sessions (with keynote speakers like prof. Håkon With Andersen, prof. Patrick E. Martin and dr. Anna Storm), excursions to living industrial heritage sites and also sites of modern technology. Social events include a jazz consert, a unique boat cruise to beautiful lake landscape and a Finnish Sauna evening. In the post conference programme there will be an arranged trip to UNESCO world heritage site Verla Groundwood and board mill.

The fee for the conference is 190 EUR (early student fee: 90 EUR) covering

    Societal aims for the conservation of industrial heritage

    Contested pasts - the heritage of science, technology and industry in geo-political conflict

We also encourage sessions or roundtable proposals.
